New Local Plan for West Northamptonshire
We are preparing a new local plan for the area to guide development in the period up to 2041. Consultation on a Regulation 18 Draft Plan commenced on 08 April and will run for a period of 8 weeks until 2 June 2024.
The West Northamptonshire Local Plan will replace the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy Local Plan (Part 1) and the Part 2 Local Plans which were adopted for the former Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire areas.
The Current consultation follows a consultation on spatial options for the Plan that took place in the Autumn of 2021, with Council, at its meeting on 21 March 2024, approving the current consultation on a Regulation 18 draft of the West Northamptonshire Local Plan.

West Northamptonshire Council approved a new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the West Northamptonshire Local Plan on 14 September 2021. This SCI sets out how the council will engage stakeholders and the public in the production of the West Northamptonshire Strategic Plan. The latest version of the SCI was adopted on 30 January 2024.
The latest LDS for West Northamptonshire was approved by the Planning Policy Committee on 25 April 2023 and came into effect on 30 January 2024. The LDS sets out the timetable for the preparation of the West Northamptonshire Local Plan.
