Farthinghoe Recycling and Re-use Centre

This site:

  • can accept a wide range of items and materials for recycling and reuse
  • does not accept general rubbish
  • has a re-use shop where items that are saved from landfill and recycling are available

It is run on behalf of the Council by Ace Reuse Recycling Limited.

The recycling centre is on the A422 between Brackley and Banbury, about one mile west of Farthinghoe.

Using the centre

  • books
  • bric-a-brac
  • car batteries
  • cardboard
  • CDs
  • cooking oil
  • cookers
  • drink cartons
  • DVDs
  • electricals (broken or working)
  • exercise equipment
  • foil
  • fluorescent tubes
  • food and drink cans
  • fridges and freezers
  • furniture (must have a fire label, be stain free and in a good condition so that someone else can reuse). Soft furniture will only be accepted if deemed to have a resale value (this is at the discretion of site staff)
  • games and puzzles
  • glass bottles
  • green garden waste (grass, prunings, weeds)
  • mattresses (must have a fire label, be stain free and in a good condition so that someone else can reuse)
  • microwaves
  • ovens
  • paper
  • plastic pots, tubs and trays
  • rubble, bricks, slabs and tiles

  • asbestos
  • baths

  • gas cylinders
  • general rubbish
  • hazardous waste
  • kitchen units
  • paint
  • plasterboard
  • polystyrene
  • pyrex
  • shower screens
  • video tapes
  • wood/timber

When using the centre:

  • stay safe by wearing protective gloves, appropriate footwear (no open toe footwear) and clothing
  • only bring what you can safely handle or bring someone along with you if you are bringing heavy or awkward sized items, as staff may not always be able to help you carry your waste
  • be courteous to staff and other customers - unacceptable or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances and the site staff reserve the right to ask to leave the HWRC without depositing your waste
  • place all items in the correct containers
  • cooperate with staff and ask for assistance if needed
  • observe the site speed limit and the one-way system - park in marked bays only or as directed by staff
