Changes to the Blue Badge application form

From 5 March 2026, all new Blue Badge applications and renewals for West Northamptonshire residents must be completed using the official GOV.UK Blue Badge application form

We will add the new form link to the Blue Badge pages at 9am on 5 March 2026.

Our Council will no longer accept applications submitted through the old local form.

Why we are switching to the GOV.UK form

The national GOV.UK system provides:

  • a clearer and more modern application process
  • better accessibility for people with disabilities
  • stronger evidence upload tools
  • improved security and data protection
  • faster processing for councils
  • a consistent experience across all local authorities

Current applications and renewals

If you already submitted an application before the change, you do not need to do anything. Your application will continue to be processed in the current system, and you will receive your decision as normal.

If you are part way through an application, you will need to start a new application on the GOV.UK form.

Renewing your Blue Badge

If your renewal date is on or after 5 March 2026, you must use the GOV.UK renewal process.

Paying for your Blue Badge

The cost of a Blue Badge remains £10 in West Northamptonshire.

Payments are made securely via a payment link which is sent to your email address if you application is successful. If you cannot pay online, contact Customer Services. A payment of £10 is required before we can issue your badge.

Help and accessibility

We offer:

  • support at customer service centres
  • telephone support and guidance
  • carer or support-worker application options
  • assisted digital support at local libraries

The new GOV.UK form meets WCAG accessibility standards for people using screen readers and others with additional needs.
