Youth Council milestones and achievements

Information about the achievements and milestones of West Northamptonshire’s Youth Council from 2025

The Youth Council and Members of Youth Parliament (MYP) elections were successfully launched in 2025.

Between 2025 and 2026, youth voice activity included:

Youth Parliament and community impact

  • West Northamptonshire’s Members of Youth Parliament represented the area at the UK Youth Parliament, with one member speaking in the House of Commons
  • young people led local campaigns focused on knife‑crime prevention and digital safety
  • representatives attended both local and regional events to champion youth voices
  • development work on the Youth Awards and the West Northamptonshire Youth Summit
  • they worked closely with councillors, senior officers and partners to identify and highlight the key issues affecting young people

Building a voice, skills and community connections

  • introduced “Cake and Debate” sessions to create a relaxed space for open discussions between young people and adults
  • continued strong partnership working with Clubs for Young People and other community stakeholders
  • hosted a youth residential where young people took part in training and activities, reviewed progress and outcomes, and developed campaigns and action plans
