Young carers
The Children’s Trust provide a range of services for children and commission Northamptonshire Carers for carers’ support.
A carer is someone who looks after and supports a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, or disability.
If you care for someone you are entitled to information and support for yourself.
To find out more, contact the Northamptonshire Children's Trust.
Young carer’s assessment
Under the Care Act 2014, you are entitled to a carer's assessment in your own right. This is separate to an assessment carried out on the cared for adult.
Our young carers' assessments are carried out by Northamptonshire Carers:
Northamptonshire Carers
Northamptonshire Carers are commissioned to support unpaid carers. They provide services and resources to help carers look after their loved ones, improve their own well-being, and connect with other carers.
They have delegated responsibility to provide services under the Care Act (2014) on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council.
Family Hubs

Family Hubs offer a safe, welcoming space for all families with children aged 0 to 19 years (or 25 years for a young person with a special educational need or disability).
Family Hubs bring services together, making it easier for families to get the help they need - giving babies the best start for life and continuing that support through adolescence.
