Charging across pavements and public spaces
Private charging cables
Private charging cables must not be run across public roads, pavements, or footpaths.
Doing so creates a physical obstruction and poses a trip hazard to pedestrians, compromising public safety and accessibility.
Additionally, such installations may violate electrical safety regulations and are unlikely to be covered by public liability insurance.

Cross-pavement channels
Our Highways team is currently reviewing the Government guidance on cross-pavement channel and assessing how cross‑pavement channels could be introduced safely, effectively and consistently across West Northamptonshire. This process will take some time.
The website will be updated with future progress on this, email [email protected] for updates on cross-pavement channels.
