Disabled Children's Register

The Disabled Children’s Register is an electronic database of information about young people aged 0 to 25 living in West Northamptonshire who have a learning or physical disability or sensory impairment. (CA 1989 ch 41 schedule 2, part 1). This was previously known as SNIX (Special Needs Index).

The database only includes information about children with disabilities that parents or carers supply to us voluntarily. We do not include children on the database without parental consent.

The purpose of the register

The disabled children’s register database helps us to plan services for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The Local Offer team create a newsletter for all those registered with disabled children’s register which provides information on a regular basis about:

  • special educational needs and disability services
  • resources
  • training
  • early years
  • groups, clubs and activities

This is one of the ways that the Local Offer is made available for those who are not online.

Who will have access to your child's information

Statistical information will be provided to the Commissioning Managers in Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, NHFT and in West Northamptonshire for a variety of purposes, in particular to identify gaps in service provision. Information provided for planning purposes will never identify individual children.

The registration updates your child's existing local authority record and is completed by the Local Offer Team.
