Council Tax payments

Important update regarding Council Tax Payments

If you typically pay your Council Tax using the barcode on your bill, please note that the Annual Bill issued on 12 March 2024 does not contain a barcode for payments at Post Offices or PayPoints.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Here’s what you need to know based on your location:

Northampton residents using a barcode for payments

If you live in the Northampton area and your Council Tax account number starts with a 4 and contains 9 digits.

If you prefer to continue making payments using a barcode, you can still use your 2023/24 bill for this purpose. Just ensure that the address matches the bill issued on 12 March 2024.

If you no longer have your 2023/24 bill or have changed address, an updated 2024/25 bill containing a barcode can be requested by emailing [email protected] or by contacting our Customer Service Team.

South Northants residents using a barcode for payments

If you live in the South Northants area and your Council Tax account number starts with a 1 and contains 9 digits.

If you prefer to continue making payments using a barcode, an updated 2024/25 bill containing a barcode can be requested by emailing [email protected] or by contacting our Customer Service Team.

Please do not use the barcodes on previous bills. Consider alternative payment options, including Direct Debit or bank transfer. The full list of options is available on the reverse of your bill.

Direct Debit

Setting up a Direct Debit remains the simplest and most hassle-free method for paying your Council Tax. With Direct Debit, you're in control - you won’t miss a payment, you have the flexibility to choose your payment dates, and you're protected by the Direct Debit guarantee.

If you experience difficulties setting up a Direct Debit or using alternative payment methods, please contact our Customer Service team.
