Gift a document

Christmas and New Year hours

  • The last day for public research this year is 19 December 2024
  • The Archives Service will re-open on 7 January 2025

Northamptonshire Archives Service will be closed for a major project from 14 January to 16 January 2025, and will re-open on 21 January 2025.

Please consider visiting before they close to take photographs of any documents you may need during these periods.

If you have any old documents, photographs or films you think other people in the county might be interested in, you can gift them to the Northamptonshire Archives Service.

We can’t accept all offers but we will be very happy to discuss whether we are the right place for your information. If it isn’t appropriate or feasible for us to accept, we may be able to suggest a more suitable location.

If you do gift them to the Northamptonshire Archives Service, they will benefit the public and be kept safe for future family historians, researchers and students to use.

Gifting to our collections

Not every document will be of interest to us or it might be a copy of something we already have. So before you bring anything in, please contact the Archives Service and describe your items as best as you can.

Our collections team will assess whether they are of historical interest to us and will get in touch with you. The kind of things that may be of interest include:

  • parish records
  • non-conformist records
  • business records and school records
  • Northamptonshire Regiments, Militias and Yeomanry records

Make an appointment

We cannot accept any items brought in without a prior appointment, so please do not bring any items to the Archives Service without contacting us first.

To offer a gift of documents to the Archives Service, please email [email protected] to make an appointment.
