Wantage Park

An artist impression of the coming Wantage Crematorium and Wake Facility, which will be situated at Round Spinney in Northampton

Wantage Park is set to become a vital part of the West Northamptonshire community, offering a state-of-the-art crematorium, ceremonial spaces, and a welcoming café for visitors. With this facility, we aim to meet the growing needs of our population while providing a peaceful and respectful environment for bereavement services.

As our population continues to grow, so does the demand for cremation services. Existing crematoria in the area are currently operating beyond capacity, leading to longer waiting times and reduced service availability.

Wantage Park will relieve this pressure, allowing for longer, more meaningful ceremonies and reducing wait times for bereaved families during difficult times.

Sustainable design

Wantage Park will include an energy-efficient electric cremator, heat recovery systems, solar panels, and green roofs. These features contribute to significantly lower CO2 emissions, and align with our Net Zero targets for 2030.

The development’s landscaping will also support local biodiversity, enhancing the natural beauty of the area and providing a peaceful setting for visitors.

A community asset

Wantage Park will also offer the community additional benefits. The surrounding land will be transformed into recreational spaces with walking paths and green areas, promoting outdoor activities and well-being. Careful planning ensures that the facility will have minimal visual, traffic, and noise impacts on the surrounding area.

Infrastructure improvements, such as a new independent access road and enhanced public footpaths, will further support the local community.

The design includes accessible parking, adaptable lighting for neurodiverse individuals, and functional spaces that can be used by all faiths and no faith individuals and community groups.

The Mayflower Wake Facility, part of the development, will provide a welcoming space for post-ceremony gatherings, including wakes, receptions, and other events.
