New Local Plan for West Northamptonshire

We are preparing a new local plan for the area to guide decisions in the period up to 2043.

The West Northamptonshire Local Plan will replace the West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy Local Plan (Part 1) and the Part 2 Local Plans which were adopted for the former Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire areas.

Regulations 18 Consultation

Consultation on a Regulations 18 Draft of the Plan runs from 29 January 2026 to 27 March 2026. Consultation documents are set out below with further details and an online survey available to complete.

Responses received as part of this consultation will inform the next stage of the plan-making process and will be published in due course.

A further consultation on a Regulation 19 Plan will take place in Autumn 2026, with the intention to submit the plan for examination by the end of 2026.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the Local Plan

West Northamptonshire Council approved a new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for the Planning Service in November 2025. The SCI sets out how the council will engage stakeholders and the public in the carrying out of its planning function.

The latest LDS for West Northamptonshire was approved by the Planning Policy Committee and came into effect in January 2026.
