About the Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Strategy document and local habitat map

Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) are new, spatial strategies which identify long lasting priorities, practical actions to deliver them and the places where these efforts will have the most impact for nature recovery.

West Northamptonshire has shaped a shared vision for nature recovery - one that is ambitious, achievable and rooted in the values of its communities.

The LNRS consists of 2 parts, a statement of biodiversity priorities and a local interactive habitat map. These are referred to as the Strategy Document and the Local Habitat Map (LHM).

The strategy is both reflective and proactive. It records the state of nature now and acknowledges the past, creating a baseline that accounts for the broader picture of nature in our area.

In this way it looks forward particularly to the actions required for nature recovery, recognising the uniqueness of locations (people and nature) and building on what’s present, with opportunities.
