What we do with your waste

You may wonder what happens after our crews have collected your waste. We have put together a helpful guide to provide more information on where your waste goes.

General residual waste is delivered to Brackmills Transfer Station, run by Suez, for bulking and transfer. From there it is taken to energy plants in the UK to be used as a fuel, or the Waste Recovery Park in Milton Keynes for thermal treatment. This is where waste is used as a fuel to generate renewable energy.

All Dry Mixed Recycling is taken to Veolia Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Southwark, London. Once there, it is sorted into different materials and sent to various locations in the UK to be recycled.

Garden Waste is delivered to an open windrow composting site, run by Veolia at Ling Hall, Rugby, for composting.

Food Waste is anaerobically digested (composting without air) to produce renewable energy and a nutrient -rich biofertilizer at the Severn Trent Green Power’s anaerobic digester in Coleshill near Birmingham. Find out more about what happens to your food waste.

General Residual Waste is delivered to the Waste Transfer Station in Daventry for bulking, and then onto to an Energy from Waste plant in Wolverhampton run by MES Environmental Services.
