2024/25 subscriptions

Subscriptions for 2024/25 are now open. The subscription price for 2024/25 is £58 per bin.

If you opted to pay by Direct Debit you have received an email to notify you of the price and the payment date of 15 March 2024.

Garden waste collection is an optional, chargeable collection service for all households in West Northamptonshire.

How to subscribe

This can be paid online either by:

  • Direct Debit
  • credit or debit card

Before subscribing, please read the full terms and conditions.

Setting up a Direct Debit

To set up a direct debit instruction, you must:

  • be a named account holder and authorised to set up from this account
  • provide the sort code and the account number
  • have an email address

If 2 or more people are required by the bank to authorise new Direct Debits this form cannot be used - you will need to pay by credit or debit card.

After you subscribe, you will be sent a confirmation email with all subscription and payment information within 3 working days.

If there are changes to amount, date or frequency of the Direct Debit, we will always give you 10 working days’ notice of your account being debited via email. In the event of any error, you are entitled to an immediate refund from your bank/building society.

You have the right to cancel at any time and this guarantee is offered by all banks/building societies as part of the Direct Debit scheme. A copy of the safeguards under the Direct Debit guarantee will be included with our confirmation email.

Your first Direct Debit will be taken 10 working days after signing up. We will notify you via email of the price and collection date of your 2024/25 Garden Waste Subscription Payment.

Pay by credit or debit card

What happens next

Your bin sticker and registration letter will be sent out in the post. Please allow time to receive your sticker and do not contact us to request quicker delivery.

If you do not receive your sticker before your first collection commences, you can still put out your garden waste for collection as our crews will know that you have already registered.

Once you have received your sticker, this must be placed on the back of your garden waste bin. Bins that do not show a valid registration sticker will not be emptied.

New bins

You can have a new bin if:

  • your bin is lost or is badly damaged or broken beyond repair and needs replacing
  • you are subscribing for an extra bin subscription
  • you are subscribing for the first time and do not currently have a garden waste bin

What to put in your garden waste bin

You can put in:

  • cut flowers
  • grass cuttings
  • hedge trimmings
  • leaves and twigs
  • pet straw
  • small branches
  • untreated sawdust
  • weeds
  • wood shavings

What not to put in your garden waste bin

Please don't put in:

  • bricks, rubble and soil
  • large tree branches or trunks
  • cardboard and paper
  • cat or dog waste
  • fats and oils
  • food
  • flower pots
  • plastic bags
  • any plastic item
  • textiles
  • metals and glass
  • other wooden items

Bins that have the wrong items or are too heavy to lift onto the waste vehicle will not be collected.

You can also take your garden waste to your local household waste recycling centre.

Garden waste sack collections

If you live in Northampton you can book a garden waste sack collection if you have signed up for the garden waste subscription scheme

  • collection days are Monday only
  • any bags found to be contaminated or too heavy will not be collected
  • present your garden waste in clear sacks only
  • All bags have to be kerbside by 6:30am

If you move house

You can transfer the service to a new address if you are moving within the West Northants area. The bin needs to remain at your old property.

Please contact us and we will cancel your subscription at your old address and re-issue a permit sticker for your new address.

As there are no refunds for this service, you can leave your bins and sticker for the people moving into the property to use until the end of the service period, when they will need to pay for another if they want the service to continue.
