Page titles

Page titles should be:

  • as descriptive and distinct as possible
  • front-loaded where possible so the key information is at the start

This helps:

  • people using the site, particularly when searching for content
  • search engines to crawl the site effectively
  • AI large language models (such as ChatGPT) to source the right information
  • content editors to add descriptive link text when linking to the page from elsewhere

Examples: page titles

Good examples of page titles include:

  • Urgent mental health support
  • Family Hubs
  • Contact Everdon Outdoor Learning Centre

Bad examples of page titles include:

  • I need urgent mental health support
  • Information about Family Hubs
  • Contact the team
