Early support from our communities team
We understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and housing, financial, or wellbeing concerns can add extra stress. We are working with partners to identify residents who may benefit from additional support when faced with unexpected challenges or changes in circumstances.
Our aim is to offer information, guidance and access to services before problems become more difficult to manage.
There is no obligation to accept support, any help we offer is completely voluntary.
Support we can offer
Our Communities team can offer friendly advice tailored to your circumstances, including support with:
- benefits or financial concerns
- managing bills and budgeting
- housing options
- accessing health and wellbeing services
- other organisations that can help you
By taking action early, we hope to help reduce stress and prevent problems from escalating.
Why you are being contacted
We are contacting you because information we hold suggests that you may benefit from some additional support or advice. To help us identify residents who could be experiencing financial hardship or other challenges, we work with a specialist external organisation that analyses information already held by the Council, such as Council Tax, rent, Housing Benefit, and other relevant indicators.
Being contacted does not mean there is a problem, and you are under no obligation to engage with us. Our aim is simply to make sure you are aware of the help and services that may be available to you.

Universal Credit
Housing Benefit is financial help towards paying your rent. Most new benefit claimants of working age will have to claim their Housing Benefit via Universal Credit and claim Council Tax Support via the Council.

The team provide free and confidential support to all residents within West Northants.
