Northampton Town Centre Task Group
The Northampton Town Centre Task Group (TCTG) is a multiagency partnership working to make Northampton town centre a safe and vibrant place to be, and to deliver projects through the Home Office Safer Streets funding, and to deliver activity in relation to recommendations made by Night Time Economy Solutions, adopted by the group into a set of action plans.

Achievements in 2025
Improve the Overall Appearance of the Town Centre
- 3 Partnership clean up days delivered in the town focused on graffiti removal
- CrimeStoppers Graffiti Campaign delivered
- Town Centre Management web page developed and PDF to quick links circulated to business
Safety and Welfare (Particularly in the evening/night time)
- Mental Health and Suicide prevention awareness training delivered to TCTG and frontline partners by Public Health staff
- Pop up Mental Health event on the Market Square with a range of local providers raising awareness
- Help Point repairs completed
- Safer Route rebranded and renamed to 'Student Route' and promoted to freshers
- Ask for Angela sign up scheme set up. New materials and training provided to venues
Safer Transport in the Evening and Night Time
- OPFCC led Safer Streets Transport hub training package delivered to transport providers
- Taxi Marshal service contact renewed until April 2027
Engagement and Promoting the Offer
- NTE video used at number of events and on screen during freshers week
- Number of press releases shared to promote schemes, campaigns and achievements

As part of our efforts to revitalise the town centre, we are introducing several key initiatives to enhance the experience for everyone. These initiatives include:
Purple Flag
The Purple Flag is an accreditation awarded to Northampton Town Centre for recognising the partnership commitment to creating a dynamic, secure, and vibrant evening and night time economy, successfully held since 2019.

It only takes one
The It Only Takes One campaign, created with the OPFCC and local Sexual Violence organisations, aims to:
- share safety advice for nights out
- raise awareness about harassment and inappropriate behaviour
- equip bystanders with the knowledge and confidence to challenge unacceptable behaviour
